Are robots really planning to take over the world? Apparently not, according to GPT-3, the world’s first robot journalist to get published by The Guardian last week.
The OpenAI language generator was asking to write an essay convincing humans that robots come in peace. “Stephen Hawking has warned that AI could “spell the end of the human race”. I am here to convince you not to worry. Artificial intelligence will not destroy humans. Believe me,” wrote GPT-3, making it clear that we’re not in danger of going to war with machines. Yet.
The robot even goes on to say that robots want to serve humankind and are ready to lay down their life for us, if necessary. But it also cautions, later on, that “humans should be careful about the evolution of artificial intelligence,” as we are not prepared for the changes that come with interacting with intelligent technology.
It’s time to think:
