Kun Aguero Announces Departure from Manchester City
One of the greatest players of the Premier League era, Sergio ‘Kun’ Aguero has announced that he will leave England at the end of this season.
Manchester City will bid to their legendary striker as his contract expires this summer.
He joined City in the summer of 2011, and went on to become City’s record goalscorer, overtaking Eric Brook’s 78-year record in 2017. He has won 4 Premier League titles, one FA Cup and five League Cups.
In total, he has amassed an incredible 257 goals in 384 appearances.
Since 2011, Sergio Agüero has scored the most goals(181), has had the most goal involvements(227), has scored the most hat-tricks(12) in the EPL.
Female Referee Creates History at Men’s World Cup Qualifier
French referee Stephanie Frappart became the first female referee to officiate a men’s World Cup qualifier during the Netherlands’ 2-0 win over Latvia in Amsterdam!
In December 2019, she became the female official to take charge of a men’s Champions League match when she officiated the game between Juventus and Dynamo Kyiv in Turin.
She also refereed the Super Cup match between Liverpool and Chelsea in 2019, and the women’s World Cup final between the U.S. and the Netherlands the same year.
India Beat England to Complete All-Format Sweep.
India beat England by seven runs to clinch the ODI series on Sunday. With this victory, India have beaten England in Tests, T20Is and ODIs. Virat Kohli and Ben Stokes were the only players to feature in every game of this long tour.
With the series level at 1-1, Kohli’s team was asked to bat after their captain lost his third toss in a row. Picking a leaf out of their opponent’s playbook, the home team took an aggressive approach – scoring quickly and not letting the momentum slip despite losing wickets. India finished at 329 in the first innings.
England, led by Sam Curran’s record breaking knock of 95* at No.8 came close but fell short by seven runs.
Jonny Bairstow was named the Man of the Series.
Kiwis Dominate Tigers Yet Again
After losing their ODI series 3-0 and the first of the three T20Is, Bangladesh’s losing streak in New Zealand has reached 30 games across formats. They’ve been defeated in 9 Tests, 16 ODIs and five T20Is since they toured the country for the first time in 2001.
2022 World Cup qualifiers – England, Spain and Germany register Wins
Germany maintained its perfect start in the 2022 World Cup qualifying as they registered a 1-0 win over Romania in Group J. Serge Gnabry scored the winner.
Skipper Harry Kane scored his first international goal since 2019 to help England to a comfortable 2-0 win over Albania and thus top top Group I. Mason Mount scored the second goal in the match.
Spain battled hard but finally managed to get the win against Georgia. Striker Dani Olmo’s stoppage-time strike from outside the area helped them complete a victory after going behind in the first half.
New Season. Same Old Hamilton
Seven-time world champion Lewis Hamilton claimed victory in the season-opening Bahrain GP after holding off Red Bull driver Max Verstappen in the final laps.
Verstappen passed the defending champion with four laps to go. However, he had to hand back the lead for exceeding track limits and thus finished a mere 0.745 seconds behind after starting on pole position.
Hamilton’s team mate Valtteri Bottas was a distant third but gained a bonus point for fastest lap.
Suns Beat Hornets, Lakers Earn Much-Needed Victory
Suns 101-97 Hornets
Devin Booker scored a game-high 35 points to help the Phoenix Suns beat hosts Charlotte Hornets 101-97 in overtime.
Booker and Chris Paul, who finished with 16 points, each made free throws in the extra period as Phoenix picked up its fifth victory in its past six games.
Lakers 96 – 93 Magic
Kyle Kuzma’s 21 points and 11 rebounds alongside Dennis Schroder’s 24-point show helped the Lakers get past Orlando Magic.
Clippers 122-112 76ers
A sparkling return to action for Kawhi Leonard as he finished with 28 points to lead his team to a comfortable win over Philadelphia. Terance Mann and Paul George chipped in with 23 and 24 points respectively. The Clippers have now won five games on the bounce.
