This book is an eye-opener
If there were ever a book that had pictures so impactful that they could speak a thousand words, it would be this one. ‘A Walk With Thambi’ essentially explores the bond between a boy and his dog. But that’s not all…
Hidden deep in its vivid, sensory details is a truth that only emerges towards the end. Thambi and his four-legged friends go on beautiful adventures, climbing trees, wading through rivers, and playing in the fields; things that every little boy does with his best friend. But as you are sucked into the story further, you begin to notice some details; Thambi has a walking stick and his dog appears to be guiding him everywhere they go.
Slowly, and sensitively told, the book strives to make us look at those who are differently-abled as regular people with the same hopes and dreams. And the moment you realize what the book has been saying all along, you will rush back a few pages and read them all over again.
Available at major bookstores and Amazon.
A timeless tale of good vs. evil
Is there a better movie to watch while celebrating Diwali, which marks the return of a king from exile, than the Lion King? Diwali; this Saturday is a celebration of the victory of good over evil and light over darkness. Lion King is no different, and its exuberant visuals make it just the film for this colorful festival.
While there are a few versions of The Lion King, Owliver most definitely recommends the animated film from 1994; directed by Rob Minkoff and Roger Allers. Trust Owliver, before you know it, you’ll be in love with Simba, wishing you were friends with Timone and Pumba and laughing in the face of danger as you put your behind in the past. As this hour and a half flashes before your eyes, expect songs you’ll sing for years, sassy dialogues you’ll never want to forget, and an eternal message of love and the balance of life.
At the risk of giving away too much of this extraordinary tale, the movie is the story of Simba, son of Mufasa, king of the lions. It follows his life as he is forced into exile by his evil and greedy uncle and then returns to bring back the balance in nature. Before Simba returns to reclaim his throne, a kooky warthog and meerkat duo teach him a lesson the world can’t seem to forget: Hakuna Matata! You’ll have to watch the film to find out what that means.
So buckle up for an epic story that’ll make you understand the balance of nature, the circle of life, laugh out loud, and cry your eyes out. And once you’ve watched it, you’ll want to do it all again.
You can watch this movie on Disney+ Hotstar.
