The Great Cake Mystery: A mystery novel we devoured2 min read
Reading Time: 2 minutesHave you ever thought of being a detective? Solving crimes with a magnifying glass in one hand and a map in the other?

If that thought has crossed your mind, then you will love Alexander McCall Smith’s The Great Cake Mystery.

Mcall had earlier written the bestselling No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency series with the enthrallig character, Precious Ramotswe.
In The Great Cake Mystery, Mcall imagines Precious Ramotswe as a young girl who goes to school in her home town in Botswana. We are allowed to witness the moment where Precious’ journey began.
She is on her way to solve her first case and it all starts with cake!

A piece of cake goes missing in her classroom. The blame is directed to a boy with a sweeth tooth and sugar-covered fingers. But Precious does not jump to conclusions. She knows that there needs to be evidence before someone can be called a culprit. There starts a journey of compassion and wit to find the real thief!
The novel also has beautiful illustrations by Iain McIntosh that allow the reader to peek into Precious’ colorful world.
